  • If you are filling up your swimming pool, get the reading on your water meter before your start filling, and the reading on your water meter after you start filling. Submit these two numbers to Angela in Utility Billing for a credit on the sewer portion of your utility bill. (*Please note, you are not eligible for a pool fill credit if you have a sprinkler meter)

  • If you would like to have a sprinkler meter installed, contact the Building Department at 586-725-2151, ext. 105. You can get the information for the price of the meter and the permit as well as hook-up details.

  • If you think your utility bill is unusually high, you can contact Angela in Utility Billing at 586-725-2151, ext. 111. You can also contact the Water Department directly at 586-725-7300 if you think there is something unusual about your water usage and you would like the Water Department to investigate.

  • A payment plan does NOT eliminate a penalty charge being put on an account that is not paid by the due date. A payment plan WILL eliminate a Shut Off Notice being sent out. Payment plants must be made before the due date printed on the utility bill. If you would like to set up a payment plan, you can contact Angela in Utility Billing at 586-725-2151, ext. 111.

  • Late fees are applied to utility bills the day AFTER the due date printed on the utility bill. The late fee amount is 10% of the bill.

  • You can contact the Clerk’s Office at 586-725-2151, ext. 108 (Marcia Shinska, City Clerk), or ext. 111 (Angela Dietz). You will have to fill out an absentee ballot application and you will need your ID.

  • Bring your Property Transfer Affidavit (PTA) and Principle Resident Exemption (PRE) paperwork to the Assessing Department. You can also mail the documents to:

    Once these documents are turned in, taxes and the water/rubbish service will get put into your name.
