[ARCHIVED] Utility Bill Updates

Utility Billing Updates

1. Penalties: Penalties have been reinstated as of February 1, 2021. Penalties are applied the day after the due date printed on your utility bill. Penalties are 10% of your most recent quarterly bill balance. (You are still responsible for your bill even if it is lost in the mail)

2. Payment Arrangements: Payment arrangements do not exempt you from a penalty fee being applied to your account. You can set up a payment arrangement so it can be noted on your utility account for record keeping purposes.

3. Shut Offs: Shut Offs are still suspended at this time. Your account is not in danger of being shut off if the balance is not paid. The red Shut Off notices are not being mailed out.

4. Final Utility Bills: If you need a final bill, you can email adietz@cityofnewbaltimore.org, or call Angela at 586-716-7631. Please be patient and allow us time to get the final reading and the bill processed; we will get the final bill to you as soon as possible, which can take a couple days. We will need the following information:

  1. Property address
  2. Date needed on final bill
  3. Where you would like final bill sent (email or mail)

5. Payments: There are several ways to make payments on your utility bill at this time:

  1. Cash - If you need to make a cash payment, please ring the doorbell at City Hall and we will process your payment and give you a receipt.
  2. Drop box - We have 3 drop boxes at City Hall that are checked several times a day. Please do not leave cash in drop box.
  3. Mail - You can still mail in a payment to us at City Hall.
  4. Online/Card - You can make an online payment through our E-Services link (click here!)

6. Estimated Bill: If your utility bill has been estimated, please contact the Water Department at 586-725-7300 to schedule an appointment for a meter change.

7. Pool Fill Credits: You may be eligible to get a sewer credit for filling up your swimming pool:

  1. If you have a sprinkler meter, you can not get a sewer credit.
  2. In order to receive a credit, you MUST have the meter reading before you start filling your pool, and the meter reading right after you finish filling your pool.
  3. You can submit your two readings to Angela at adietz@cityofnewbaltimore.org or call them in at 586-725-2151.
